DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.  

DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team

As part of the Service Delivery team, Asset Management function, you will help your broader team meet their delivery objectives for high quality housing services, including maintenance services, stock management, and contractor performance.

The Asset Management function is responsible for the delivery of construction, maintenance, upgrades and heritage programs. As a member the Technical, Heritage, Upgrades & Defects (THUD) Team, you will provide technical support to the Asset Management function and other DHA staff.

About the role

As Assistant Director Technical Construction, you will manage a team of Technical Construction Officers delivering technical construction support across multiple business groups and lead the team in managing property technical/quality issues and all builders defect liability periods (DLP) for DHA’s property portfolio.

Note: All successful applicants are required to hold a valid Driver Licence, a White Card, and be eligible to complete a Baseline Vetting security clearance for consideration of the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA)
