DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.  

DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team

Sitting within the Service Delivery Group, the Asset Management – Technical, Heritage and Upgrades Team is responsible for the delivery of the national upgrades, heritage and Defence-funded construction programs to support housing requirements for Defence. You will work with other experienced professionals within DHA and the industry, and you will build and maintain an excellent working relationship with both internal and external stakeholders, including: ADF representatives, contractors and members of the construction industry, DHA Regional Operations staff and Property staff. As a Government Business Enterprise, DHA and the Asset Management function work to ensure that the current and future needs of the Australian Government are met and ensure all work is completed within the APS values and guidelines

About the role

The Contract Administrator and Project Coordinator provides project support within the Technical Heritage, Upgrades and Defect (THUD) team, working closely with various managers to meet Defence housing requirements. This role involves specialist and administrative support, including research, analysis, and data management, leveraging knowledge of the residential construction industry. Effective communication skills are essential for providing clear advice on operational and administrative matters, including troubleshooting invoice and contract issues. The role supports individual projects and operates as part of a Project Coordination Team responsible for overall contract and project support services for the THUD team.
