DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.
DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team
The Finance Division is responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability of DHA, by supporting effective decision making, resource allocation and policy compliance for both internal and external stakeholders.
Finance is committed to providing the whole organisation with accurate and reliable financial information and prides itself with supporting the broader organisation with achieving strategic goals in line with these functions.
About the role
You will manage the development and delivery of monthly financial reports within required timeframes, including the review of financial transactions, preparation of financial journals and month end reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
You will contribute to the preparation of the General Purpose Financial statements for DHA including liaison with external and internal auditors, review internal procedures and make recommendations to the Manager, Accounting Services regarding proposed changes, contribute to the management of the asset management accounting functions of DHA ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and be a subject matter expert on property development accounting issues.
You will provide monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers in relation to asset accounts, undertake the capitalisation of assets acquired by DHA including cost allocations for developmental projects and undertake the calculation and administration of DHA’s annual impairment process. Ensure that DHA’s end of financial year processing is completed in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards including preparation of notes to the financial statements.
