About your team
The Chief Financial Officer’s Group under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the delivery of fiscal management services across the organisation. The Business Planning and Research Services team is responsible for the delivery of a performance framework providing strategic direction, alignment and collaboration across the organisation, with a clear line of sight through all their planning and reporting activities.
The role is responsible for:
- Research or evaluation experience: Proficiency in developing research questions, conducting literature reviews, and selecting appropriate methodologies. You will have relevant qualifications, for example in Applied Statistics, Psychology/Statistics, Economics or similar.
- Analytical expertise: Experience with data preparation, including ETL processes, business intelligence systems, and statistical analysis techniques like regression. This role requires a high level of computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level; SPSS, or similar (knowledge of R or Python will be viewed favourably); survey programming software and customer relationship management systems.
- Project management skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, both business-as-usual and ad hoc, while meeting deadlines and quality standards. You should be able to proactively identify and mitigate risks, support continuous improvement, and effectively balance priorities to deliver outcomes.
- Team leadership and development: Experience in building team capabilities, identifying key talent, and fostering an inclusive culture. You will need to promote a collaborative work environment that supports individual growth and delivers results.
- Commitment to APS values: Demonstrated professionalism, impartiality, and alignment with the APS values and code of conduct. Your approach should reflect a principled and ethical commitment to data management and research integrity.
- Innovation and problem-solving: Capacity to explore new ideas, recognize interconnected issues, and apply innovative solutions. You should be skilled in analysing complex information, considering alternative solutions, and making evidence-based recommendations.
